Obituary
Terri Floyd Cornell, age 70 of Mount Hope, WV, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, April 24, 2026, following a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Born April 17, 1956 in Holden, WV, she was the daughter of the late Pastor George Donald and Mary Rose Adkins Floyd.
Terri attended the Bradley Freewill Baptist Church and loved her pastor, Mike. She was an outspoken Christian, who loved to share her testimony, considering herself as “Bapticostal;" singing out of the purple hymnal one minute, and desiring to run the aisles in the next. Terri was a devoted mother and doting grandmother to her children and grandchildren, who were her world. She was a caring neighbor, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that had it harder than she. There was only one Terri, and she will be so missed by everyone who had the privilege to know her.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jacqueline Asbury and Debra Canterbury and her longtime companion, George Ellison.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Jason Floyd (Melissa), Denver Evans IV, Mary Beth Hudson (Pinky) and Todd Evans (Sandy); siblings, Katherine (Jimmy) Reese, Donald Ray, Kari "Sue" Gaddy (Buddy), Sheila Keith (Tom), her twin sister, Sherry Brown (Rick) Yvonne Campbell, and William “Jeff” (Beverly) Floyd. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends along with her fur companion, “Sammy” also survive.
A Celebration of Terri’s Life will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Amos E. Quesenberry Peace Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Homes of Beckley, WV, with her brothers, Donald and Jeff officiating. A private burial will follow at Highlawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill, WV. Friends may visit the family from 4:00- 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing”. II Timothy 4:7-8
