Janet Louise Ward

May 4, 1939 — May 2, 2026

Janet Louise Ward, 86, of Oak Hill, WV, passed away peacefully at her home on May 2, 2026. Born on May 4, 1939, in Minden, WV, Janet was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose life was defined by devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.

A graduate of Oak Hill High School (Class of 1958), Janet was a lifelong learner and a dedicated member of Mt. View Church of God, where she taught Sunday school and later worked in the church’s school. From around 1980 until her husband’s retirement in 1994, she worked in the Mt. View day care, touching the lives of countless children with her warmth and kindness.

Janet’s greatest joy was her family. She was a loving mother to Jodie Kevin Ward (Cristina) of Hedgesville, WV, and Janis Ward Irey (Philip) of King George, VA. She adored her five grandchildren, Philip Irey, Nathan Irey, Nicholas Ward, Christopher Ward, and Ashley Ward, and was present at every grandchild’s birth. Janet was also blessed with the dedicated care, love, and companionship of her caregiver, Alisa Hess, in her final years.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Jodie D. Ward and her mother, Eunice Evelyn Hutchinson. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother whose involvement in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives never wavered.

A service to celebrate Janet’s life will be held at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 12:00 PM. Entombment will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park.

Friends may visit with the family 1 hour prior to the service.

Her legacy of kindness, faith, and family devotion will live on in all who knew and loved her.
