James Eddy Fitzwater,70, of Mount Hope, WV, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at home following a courageous battle with cancer, but he never let it get him down. He could still find him outside cutting wood in his garden, in his building, or scouting out hunting spots. Eddy was born on April 14, 1955, in Albany, NY, to the late James J. Fitzwater and Erma Lee Naylor Fitzwater.

Eddy was retired and enjoyed many hobbies, such as; hunting, camping, fishing, gardening, canning, and making moonshine.

Eddy had the best nurse ever, his daughter-in-law, Shelia, was by his side from day one, spending 17 days in Morgantown, and the last 3 years and 9 months by his side. He loved his Hospice Nurse, Cassie Street, she became family over the last year and 4 months.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bryant Fitzwater; a sister, Sue Fitzwater; and the mother of his children, Gladys Kerwood Romero.

Left to cherish his memory, sons, James Fitzwater (Shelia) and Carey Fitzwater (Monica); daughter, Lisa Bragg (John); brothers, Hoy Fitzwater (Thelma), Walter “Kim” Fitzwater (Vickie), Curtis Fitzwater, and Paul Fitzwater; sisters, Lulabell Keatley (Curtis) and Joyce Allen (Albert); grandchildren, Elijah Fitzwater (Bailey), Jacob Fitzwater, Kendra Pudder, Alexis Harmon, Jeremiah Medina, JT Harmon (Morgan), Sabrena Kincaid, Dalton Kincaid, Christian Jennings, and Hosanna Jennings; and great-grandchildren, Luella, Jaden, Cameron, Mathias, Gracie, Ethan, Malaki, Xavier, Eli, Sophie, Lane, Remington, Patric, and Caroline.

Services will be held at 1 PM, Friday, October 31, 2025, at High Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Humphrey officiating. Entombment will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park.

Friends may call on the family at 12 PM, Friday, October 31, 2025, at High Lawn Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Elijah, Jacob, Dalton, James, Seth, Jeff, and JT.
