Debra “Debbie” Jones Andrews 8-1-1960 Sunrise 5-5-26 Sunset
In the afternoon of Tuesday, May 5, 2026, Debra “Debbie” Jones Andrews went to her heavenly home.
After a long, courageous fight with chronic lung disease, Debbie’s natural body grew tired. We rejoice in knowing there is no more pain or suffering, for she received her healing on the other side.
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” — Revelation 21:4
“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
Debbie was a dedicated and respected leader in retail pharmacy. She was a former employee of Rite Aid where she served as District Manager and held various store management positions — from the West Side of Charleston, to Harper Road in Beckley, to her hometown of Oak Hill. She retired from Walgreens in Oak Hill shortly after the transition, leaving behind a legacy of excellence, mentorship, and genuine care for her teams and customers.
Debbie had a zest for life and many passions. Above all, she loved shopping — it was her therapy, her joy, and her ministry. She could find a deal anywhere and had style for days. At 65, she was still the definition of a diva: outfits pressed, jewelry shining, and never stepping out without looking her best.
Her greatest love was the Lord, her family, and the church. Debbie was a faithful and beloved member of Spirit and Truth Ministries under Bishop Sam R. Calloway Jr. She cherished her church family and friends deeply. She also loved attending her daughter’s church, The Rising Remnant House of Restoration, which she proudly called her “2nd church family.” Debbie loved praise and worship music, especially her favorite song, “Hard Fought Hallelujah” by Brandon Lake — a song that mirrored her own testimony of faith through the fight.
Some of Debbie’s favorite pastimes were taking trips to Virginia to spend time with her beloved sister, and quiet moments with her lifetime partner, Calvin. In addition, vacations and getaways to Ohio with her son. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her grandbabies were her world, and “Mamaw” was the title she wore with the most pride. Whether it was fussing over them, spoiling them, or just being present, her love for them was fierce and unconditional.
Debbie loved her Rio. You couldn’t go without taking her, or at least bringing her back some beans... and chips. That smile of hers would light up the whole car. Some of her daughter’s old friends lovingly nicknamed her “Tequila” — a name that always made her laugh. That was Debbie: full of life, full of personality, and unforgettable.
Debbie was preceded in death by her loving parents, Damon and Peggy Jones of Scarbro; and her brother-in-law, Terry Surface of Oakvale. Her Fur baby, Sallie Mae
Those left to cherish her memory are:
Her lifetime partner: Calvin Cook. Her children: Amanda Jones and Jonathon Andrews, wife Heather
Her grandchildren: Sierra Hope Jones, David Jones and Preston Andrews — the lights of her life. Her sister: Kimberly Surface Fur babies: Tuxedo and Cooper
And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as countless close friends and her beloved church family from Spirit and Truth Ministries who will miss her dearly.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
Debbie’s life was not without ups and downs, but her love, her laughter, and her style were unwavering. In her final years, her faith was strong and her presence was felt. She lived boldly, loved deeply, fussed passionately, and left us with memories wrapped in grace and a little bit of glitter. She will be missed in style.
A Celebration of Life will be held: Monday, May 11, 2026, Spirit and Truth Ministries 100 Main St Oak Hill WV. Immediate Family : 11:00 AM.
